Title: Japanese Proofreaders Needed!

Cheebs - April 3, 2008 09:54 PM (GMT)
So, I have no time to check all of the translations for accuracy and English correctness anymore...so I'm gonna open a new position!

I need one or two Japanese proofreaders, and yes there will be a test. And as a requirement, proofreaders must know both Japanese and English.

What will a proofreader do? A proofreader will look at the script, be it translated from Japanese, Chinese, or whatever language, and check the script over to the Japanese pages for accuracy and for correct English grammar. A proofreader will also be on a deadline system, with the deadline being 1~2 weeks after the chapter is given to you.

Simple? Yes? No? Too bad! Any questions just post. The test will be fixing up a script that I will give you. I think we'll only need a few proofreaders, so apply soon.

Email me at j00lz.style at gmail dot com for the test! Or post here and I'll email it to you. *WIPE

Hello, I see no one has posted yet. Umm, I emailed already but you haven't replied. Haha, so I'm interested in applying for the post.. *GLINT
Haha, English is my second language but don't worry, i'm used to speaking it since it's our school's medium of teaching. And I recently took up Japanese as my foreign language elective. And I got a B+! *OMG I couldn't make it to A haha, tough sensei.

Well, enough blabbing on my part. So anyway, I'll be waiting for the test.
Doumo arigato gozaimasu!

*EDIT

my email btw is ashechan at yahoo dot com

Yeah I got it. Sorry, we were debating whether we should send you a few pages or a whole chapter. *POINT I'll choose a few pages soon.

What are the benefits given to those who help? Are there any?

Not that I could be any help. I am a star English student, but I know zero Japanese.

So yeah, just curiosity on my part.

benefits...faster releases? get the chapters before anyone else does? a nice feeling when everyone is thanking you? ^^

haru - May 14, 2008 06:41 AM (GMT)
....and your name appears in the Credits page! *XD

Most people help because they want to help and not because they want some benefits? I think that if someone is looking for perks in nonprofit scanslating, they might be in the wrong place...
kind of harsh but that's just what i think *CHOMP

TjTheCrazyCatGirl - May 15, 2008 12:24 AM (GMT)
Hey, hey, hey. Sorry if I've offended anyone. I was just curious. Nothing but curiosity...

I'm not looking for benefits or anything. Sorry again! The way I wrote that was pretty grubely. *DROP

Anyone who has the ability to help and does so is a flippin' god in my eyes. I would help just for the fun of it and faster updates, but unfortunately I am computer retarded. No joke.

So yeppers, peppers. That's about it. And everyone who participates in scanlating is... a HERO!!!! *LOVE

Hello.

I probably will be able to be a proof-reader too but I might not have enough time to do lots but I'll try my best *YAY

I will email you (Cheebs) tomorrow because it is getting late here.

Cheers!

I just wanted to make sure that you still needed Japanese Proofreaders before I e-mailed you. >>

I do Japanese Proofreading for another site too, so I've already had experience in the field (They have a large staff, though, so I haven't gotten any work lately. >>).

I had three years of Japanese in high school, and am planning on taking it up again next quarter (I couldn't take it this quarter. T.T). (I just graduated, so high school wasn't that long ago).

I'm not sure how fluent you want your proofreaders to be in Japanese, though. I can read all hiragana and katakana, but I can't really do much with kanji. If there's furigana, I should be fine.

At the other scan group, they mostly just have me translate SFX, translate anything that was missed, reword odd sentences, and fix grammar/spelling.

If you want me, just let me know! :) (I know I have to take a test. >>)

Yeah, we're still looking. Please email me for the test :P
