When you find a user who is a spambot what do you do? If you set up a 'banned' usergroup then you can just ban the spambots and make it so that they can read topics but not reply and therefore they would try but fail to actually reply and therefore the problem is fixed.

not sure if that'll work becuase spambots just make new ids (using new ips) whenever we do ban/block them *RUN

Well, this might trick them into thinking they can still post, spambots recently found my forums, luckily they haven't started posting yet.
