Description: I can't read Harry Potter!

EdwardCullen17 - March 2, 2009 12:27 AM (GMT)
Hello!~ *HI I'm Ambreen and I need help!~ *EYES Here's the deal; My friend, since 2nd grade, is obsessed with Harry Potter-- Opposite of my other friend who hates Harry Potter, this one is my best friend. So! My 2nd grade friend wants me to continue Harry Potter where I last left off and my best friend tells me to return it. *OMG What do I do? I mean, in my opinion I think the books are boring and I love *LOVE the movies. I'm on the Order book, the latest movie book. It bores me death, no offense. *DROP *SIGH So, should I read the book and keep on going, so that my friend would be pleased. Or should I return it and lie to my friend and say that I read it. Or should I just return it and tell her it's impossible for me to read.

Please help! And suggest other ideas!~ *EYES

(Please and thank you)

Well, if they're obsessed with Harry Potter and you tell them you've read a book and you haven't, they'll probably ask you something about the book immediately that will blow your cover. If you find the books boring you might give them another try and if they still suck you could either a) keep them a long time and then tell said friend you didn't have time to read it and eventually give it back so as not to "impose" or b) Give it back because you don't like to borrow things. If you chose b, reasons could be something like, my room is a mess and I'm afraid I'll lose it. *SIGH This is unfortunately a common dilemma for me so I feel your pain. Or I guess, you could tell them the truth, but you already had that option so yeah...

i would say just be honest with your friend, just say "hey, i'm not really that interested in this book, thanks though!" i think your friend should be able to understand that, i mean me and my friends dont have a lot or all the same interests at all, and that's what makes it more interesting and fun *XD

in the end, i think lying to your friend to keep from hurting them is more hurtful in the long run... i mean they shoudl be able to understand you saying "my taste in reading is different from yours" ... it's not like your'e saying "hey, i think your taste in reading sucks" or something, you're just saying your tastes are different

*EYES That was really good advice--- Next time I'm sooo coming here for any other advice *GLINT ~ Okay- the thing is, that I didn't borrow it, I got it from the school library- that's why if I secretly return it, she won't know. However, as berry said, that'd hurt in the long run, all that guilt. So what I've decided to do is admitt that I have different tastes then hers~ And she can be as os obsessed with Harry Potter as I'm with Edward Cullen (from Twilight, not the actor-- *OMG I like the book Edward *ROLL )

So, Thanks for the advice~ I'll tell you how it goes during lucnh (Because now I can get at school~ *ROLL )

Its better to tell the truth, and she can't be angry because you didn't like something that SHE likes *EYES
Gambatte ! *ROLL

Nevi - March 2, 2009 12:55 PM (GMT)
I totally agree with what berry said. *ROLL

It's better to be honest with your friend now. It's totally normal that people have different interests, but that should never affect the friendship. *DROP

EdwardCullen17 - March 2, 2009 04:11 PM (GMT)
True! It worked very well actually *ROLL I told her I'm not reading it because I don't like it that much and she didn't rip my head off~! *XD

Thanks for the advice and I'll be there if anyone needs help too~ *ROLL

berry - March 3, 2009 05:26 AM (GMT)
yay i'm glad your friend was reasonable and understanding! *GOOD

Nekonya - March 3, 2009 06:39 PM (GMT)
Yaaay!!!!!! *LOVE
Its always better to tell the truth *ROLL , trust me, i've learned that from a hard core thing *SIGH *XD

EdwardCullen17 - March 3, 2009 08:40 PM (GMT)
*ROLL I always tell the truth---- i'm the worst liar, since no one can know from online, but I am the worst liar. I start to smile or giggle or just plain tell the truth *XD *XD I seriously can never lie- which is a good thing. Shahla, my friend, told me that she wasn't forcing me to read it, she just thought I'd want to read it. I tried not to cough when she said that I'd like to read Harry Potter. *DROP *XD *XD

Thanks for the help, people,~ *ROLL

I can lie, but sometimes i burst into laugh , and when i tell the truth, even then sometimes no one believes me *XD *XD

EdwardCullen17 - March 4, 2009 04:00 PM (GMT)
Same here *XD Everytime I lie to my brother, he believes me, but when I tell the truth, he thinks I'm lying *DROP *SIGH *XD

Nekonya - March 4, 2009 08:09 PM (GMT)
Hahahhaha *XD *XD *XD
Poor you *SIGH *XD

EdwardCullen17 - March 4, 2009 08:30 PM (GMT)
*DROP I know~ Then there are times I can't even lie, and it's horrible if I try *RUN Still, Lying isn't good, which I've always known, but sometimes it's good to lie, so I thought this was one of those times~ *SIGH *XD

Nekonya - March 5, 2009 02:42 PM (GMT)
hahha *XD *XD
Its hard to lie sometimes, i usually get nervous *SIGH *XD

AngelIvory - March 5, 2009 05:54 PM (GMT)
Lying requires practice *GLINT Not that I'm a pro liar *EVIL
I occasionally tell the white lie like im doing homework when really im spamming *XD i get away with those *ROLL

But yes sorry for hijacking and going off topic *XD

EdwardCullen17 - March 6, 2009 01:18 AM (GMT)
True, and before we get way off topic, I want to thank everyone again~ Thank you~ *ROLL

berry - March 6, 2009 03:11 AM (GMT)
well now i'm hijacking this... about lying, i'm usually bad at it becuase i end up laughing or i get really nervous or something... usually, instead, i just "withhold information" which is essentially like lying.... i'm better at lying over the phone than in person *XD

EdwardCullen17 - March 7, 2009 12:14 AM (GMT)
*XD Same here-- In person I start to smile or just get nervous-- *WIPE *DROP *XD

if shes your friend, she should take your best interests into consideration-that goes for both of them. ive read all the harry potter books, and must admit the intro to the 6th was boring i kinda just skimmed it. but i love the books more than the movies cuz my imaginatioon can run wild in the books. i get so captivated but thats just me. i have friends who havent read harry opotter. i tell them theyre very good they should read some time but everyone has theyre own opinions. if you like the movies better why waste your time reading something that bores you to no end? i like reading a lot, im always reading, but if it's boring to you, then i dont see why you should keep reading.
