I'm sorry but what is the job of an editor? Do you need a special program? And what is a J-E proofreader?

If somebody is willing to show me the ropes I would like to help when my exams are over which is the 29th june.

I can't translate but I hope I can help in this way

An editor is someone who levels, rotates, and cleans the raw scan, taking out the japanese text and redrawing/cloning in any missing parts of the image. Then the editor puts the English translation into the cleaned scan. The most common program used for editing is Adobe Photoshop. If you're interested in being an editor, head over to the Recruitment section and to the Editor's thread (Link) where you can find a free copy of Photoshop 7, a bunch of really good tutorials on editing, and, of course, SH's edit test!

A J-E proofreader must be sufficiently proficient in both Japanese and English so that he/she can proofread the translation and make sure that it is accurate to the Japanese text and grammatically correct in English. For more information on that job and also information on how to apply to it, visit the thread in the Recruitment forum. (Link)

good luck! *XD
