Title: Making a forum

I was wondering how do you like make categoryies and backgrounds for a forum on invision free. I had one and shutted it down because I didn't know what to do. I mean I screamed at the computer not knowing what to do *OMG . It was horrible mostly because I have barely knew how to do computer stuff. I know how to put up nice software and other gadgets but I never did graphic class so I don't know anything about computer graphics *DROP. I can't take till next fall *NOOO

I know what you mean; when I first used InvisionFree, I didn't have a clue what to do. It's really simple to use, once you get the hand of it, though.
Now, I'm assuming to know how to access the Admin CP?
Once you're logged into the Admin CP, there will be a toolbar along the right-hand side of your screen. If you scroll down this toolbar, there should be a table titled 'Forum Control', although as I'm checking my SpreeBB instead of InvisionFree, there may be a teeny variation. Under 'Forum Control', there is an option called 'New Category'. Click this, enter the name you want to call the category, and click 'Create This Category'.
Next, you need to create forums to go
inside this category. To do this, look back at your toolbar, and underneath 'Forum Control', below the 'New Category' option, there is an option called 'New Forum'. You click this, which will bring up a new screen.
1. Under 'Add To Which Parent?' you need to select which category you want to add the forum to. Just leave the 'Forum State' as it is for now.
2. 'Forum Name' and 'Forum Description' are pretty self-explanitory.
3. Ignore the rest of the options, and skip right down to the bottom of the page, where there is a chart. Click the small '+' sign next to the following user groups:
- Admin Forum Mask
- Member Forum Mask
You may change this around as you get more knowledgable about InvisionFree.
4. Click 'Create This Forum', and you're done!
As for the backgrounds, I'm presuming you want a skin? The best skins for newbies to InvisionFree are premade skins, and a large collection can be found
here.

oh yeah, you said you wanted to make the border thingys on the side, im guessing its the Board Wrappers....*??
copy and paste this into Board Wrappers, above everything that is already in there, DO NOT DELETE THE CRAP THAT IS ALREADY THERE! now this is the one for this forum so the color may not be what you want *WIPE just change the hex codes accordingly *GOOD

Naww, I meant forum resizing.
You know Hosted-Forum died, right?
Well, I copied and pasted my Cascading Style Sheets from Hosted-Forum into InvisionFree, and it isn't working correctly.
On Hosted-Forum, my board was only 750px wide because of the custom CSS. However, in InvisionFree, my board remained the full size of my computer screen, and refuses to resize. Which is why I'm now stuck with a SpreeBB, which is an okay Invision Power Board host, but nothing on Hosted-Forum ]:

Aaah *DROP I didn't see the '750px' bit. I just saw the hex codes and whatnot... Stupid Hosted-Forum for dying on me >:3
I shall find the URL of my IF board, and try it out ^^
I'm used to controlling everything with CSS and the forum templates.

But, there may be a small problem with that. A very big small problem that makes me look like an utter retard.
I've lost my InvisionFree board. -.-" Like, I can't actually find it. Ebil thing.
Anyway, I have a nice lufferly Proboards forum that I'm working on at the moment - I can actually write my own codes for it, too! >:3

Well, I registered my IF using the e-mail address that I sign in on Windows Live Messenger with. And I delete my e-mails daily on that account. *facepalm*
