do you have the windows vista cd? you just put it into your computer, turn off the computer, turn it back on, and it should ask u if u want to install windows.

i'm not too sure, because i never used vista. i can only tell you that on windows, there is an option to format the computer and then install windows on the blank harddrive. However, if your computer is already on, and you put in the cd, it should give you an option to just reinstall windows without formatting. HOWEVER, this is just my experience, please double check before doing this!! i don't want you to accidentally delete anything and then come after me *NOOO

Oh ok awesome

What does this mean

On the Where do you want to install Windows? page, select the partition where you want to install Windows.

Thats from this site.

What is the partion?

and do you know whether i will have to get a new anti-virus program after reinstalling? I dont have the disk or anything for my current one because the people who mad eth computer for us, didnt give it to us.

chasiewbao - January 20, 2008 07:06 AM (GMT)
ok, i can tell you what that means, but i have some questions first. why are you reinstalling windows vista. second, when you turn on your computer, does your computer load and actually let you log onto windows vista?

for the thing about partitions, when you open my computer, you should see your harddrives. most of the time, a person has one harddrive and when they set up the computer, they say, ok, i have one harddrive but i want to separate it into 3 sections. each section of your harddrive is called a partition. most of the time these partitions are called C: or D:, something like that.

if you follow the steps under "To install Windows by performing a clean installation", everything will be deleted. this means all your files AND programs. your anti-virus program will be gone. if you are still under warranty, i think you can call tech support, tell them your problem and they will a)mail you a cd for your anti virus program b) tell you where to download it as well as get a key for it or c)not help you at all.

however, i recommend you follow the steps "To upgrade to Windows Vista" even though you are not technically upgrading. choose the option "upgrade" instead of "custom"
even though i recommend this, it depends on what is wrong with your computer to make you want to reinstall vista. you might not need to reinstall at all.

Thank you for your help

Yeah my computer loads and logs me onto windows.

I'm reinstalling windows because my brother is having a few problems with a game and the game's tech support said to reinstall windows and it should work.
